See you there!!!

NGV Quilt Exhibition

A few weeks ago I was lucky to revisit the amazing Making the Australian Quilt Exhibition at the NGV.  I am in total awe of the work that our ancestors produced under less than ideal conditions.  One of my favourite quilts was the Prudence quilt pictured.  Of course the Rajah quilt is my number 1!  When I walked into the Exhibition I felt a real connection with the women (and a couple of men!) who had made these quilts.  It sent shivers down my spine!  This weekend is the last time we can see this Exhibition, if you haven’t visited yet try and get there.

New fabric on the shelves

Paula Barnes beautiful new Red Roses and Vines

Marcus Howards new Collection for a Cause – Preservation

Putty and Mortar from Marcus Fabrics

To finish off Anni Downs new Peace on Earth for all those Christmas projects that there is still time to make.  Check out her website for great free download patterns.

Lots and lots of boxes to unpack recently!  Of course my favourites are the Reproductions of which Preservation is top of the list!  The medallion panel is devine and really sets the creative thoughts racing .  Wonder where that journey will end!

Welcome to my magical world!

As the song goes -‘let’s start at the very beginning it’s a very good place to start’ – I decided to start the adventure of blogging way back at the start of my quilt designing career!

Being inspired by a photo of an old quilt that had it’s own story to tell and a beautiful range of fabrics that had just arrived in store, I designed my own version that became my Jesse Jacob’s Quilt.  This quilt started me on a journey that has no end!  I still draw inspiration from the many photos of quilts that can be found across all media.  If you would like to make your own Jesse Jacobs quilt the pattern is available from our online store or pay our shop front a visit if you are in our neighbourhood.

Please come back and visit with me here often to keep up to date with everything that is happening at Magic Patch Quilting.  You will also find us on Facebook and Instagram!
